Casper brought his 2007 NC1 MX-5 2.0 completely stock on 15th of Feburary 2025 as his second car coming from a MK2 Toyota Yaris. Casper wanted something a bit more fun and cool that had potential worthy of modifying.
Casper himself is a trainee machinist working in Silverstone. Yeah Silverstone, pretty neat as he manufactures parts for motorsport purpose. The man’s 19 years old and came from Poland and he’s always been into cars for as long as he can remember. Casper purchased an NC over any other generation MX-5 as it was his favourite and he like myself saw the potential in the chassis when modified, while understanding due to its simplicity and lightweight consumables for the car would be cheaper than the average sports car. While being a load of fun to drive.

Interior
For the interior Casper kept things mostly basic with a simple black sued Option! drift seat hard mounted to maximise head-room and keep him planted throughout the corners in comparison to the stock seats. Changing the piano trim from the gloss black finish, Casper opted to wrap the trim piece with balck suede. While also fitting a rather convienent Apple CarPlay head-unit for daily driving.

Exterior
Meanwhile the exterior Casper managed to find a damage Mazdaspeed front bumper for sale which he opted to learn to repair himself. He’s also put a set of Weds Sport alloy wheels, all of which are wrapped in Advan Sport tyres. To then acheive his fitment he ahd to slightly roll the rear arches and run a bit more of negative camber than factory alignment settings. With a little less negative camber up front with ocassional arch rubbing. For a cool factor he decided to fit a sunstrip on the windsield and some window stickers.
Exterior Parts List
- Genuine Mazdaspeed Front Bumper – (£650.00 Bumper + £100 Materials + £300 Paint)
- Weds Sport SA-90 17x8J +ET35 – (£750.00 for four) – Facebook Marketplace Find
- Advan Sport V105 Tyres 225/45/17 – (£107.00 Per Tyre)
- Custom alignment: Rear Negative Camber: 2.3°, Front Negative Camber: 1.5°
Tuning
To suite his lovely Weds Sport alloy wheels Casper decided to go for Meister-R coilovers as they were relatively cheap but offer amazing build and ride quality for the money. The only downside he can think of is the rear coilovers don’t allow an even more slammed style of fitment.
Under the bonnet Casper says it’s mostly standard Mazda. However he has a RacingBeat 4-1 exhaust manifold to fit soon. While also changing the factory strut-brace to a TTCR-2 unit mostly for aesthetics.
Brakes he has upgraded to MTEC C hook discs, that are the standard rotor diameter. Opting for Mintex brake pads. An OEM+ brake system upgrade in my opinion.

Additonal Comments By Casper
For his next mods, Casper has a front-lip waiting to install onto the front bumper. He would also like to retrofit some NA MX-5 GV style sideskirts to the car.
